President Of Boston Firefighters Union Pleads For Leads On Missing Granddaughter

UPDATE: Boston Police report that Shariyah Heyward has been found.

The president of the Boston firefighters union is asking his community for help in finding his 14-year-old granddaughter who has been missing for nearly a week. 

Shariyah Heyward, age 14, was last seen near The Academy of the Pacific Rim Public Charter School in Hyde Part around 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, Boston Police report. 

Boston Firefighters Local 718 President Leroy Heyward released a statement in the wake of his granddaughter's disappearance asking for assistance.

"It is with a humble heart that I ask my beloved Boston community members for help in the search for her," Heyward said. "Our family is worried for her safety and is desperately hoping to be safely reunited." 

Shariyah is described as a Black female who was last seen wearing a black crop top shirt, blue jeans with multicolored patches and yellow Crocs, according to Boston Police. 

Shariyah has run away before and is known to frequent 83 Adams Street and could possibly be with a man named Tru, police added. 

Anyone with information regarding Shariyah's whereabouts is asked to contact 911 or Boston Police at 617-343-5619. Anonymous tips can made by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line AT 1-800 (494) -TIPS or by texting the word 'TIP' to CRIME (27463). 

People are advised not to contact the family directly.
